Common Tech Issues

Trouble with my webcam
If your camera is not showing up in the Zoom Settings or it is selected and not showing any video, these tips can help you troubleshoot why it is not working.

  • Zoom desktop client
  • Zoom mobile app

If you have not already, test your video to confirm that the correct camera is selected and adjust your video settings. Learn how to test your video.

Trouble with my microphone
Two of the most common microphone issues are either the microphone is muted or it is not designated as the input device for the computer. If you are unable to pass the microphone check please use the following steps:

Instructions for Mac OSX:

  1. Access the "System Preferences" from the dock or applications folder
  2. Find the icon labeled "Sound"
  3. Under the "Input" tab confirm the desired microphone is selected as the default device. For example, if you have a Logitech webcam plugged in you would want to select the microphone that is labeled "Logitech".
  4. Underneath of the input devices, there is a bar labeled "Input Level". This will react to your voice if the proper microphone is selected.
  5. 5. Raise the "Input Volume" if the microphone volume is too low

You can check your microphone online.

General FAQs

How will I be graded?
Your language coach will be sending reports to your instructor based on your attendance and participation during the sessions, not on your performance. Try your best and make every effort to participate, just like in your regular class sessions. Do not worry about making mistakes; it is an opportunity for you to communicate and practice the language with your language coach and peers. Your instructor, not the language coach, will determine how to grade this component.
Can I get a refund?
Refunds are only allowed during the first week or two weeks of class. If you have reserved a session but the coaching program has not started yet, refunds are allowed. Once the LinguaMeeting sessions calendar have started, refunds are not allowed.
I can't make my session
Our policy is very flexible. Students do not need to cancel their session. They can use the “reschedule” button as many time as needed during the semester. Also, they can reschedule same day and a minute before their scheduled sessions takes place.
I missed my coaching session
It is important to understand that if you missed your session, LinguaMeeting provides one make-up credit at no extra cost. After a make-up credit has been activated, it can be canceled (only before the scheduled session) and reused for another time. If a student missed the session, the make-up credit cannot be applied to another session.
